They sailed to England because it was better than where they came from – their ancestors had let them down by building a society based on violence.
Quite simply:
Strong men = good times
Weak men = bad times
I’m reminded of a trip I made to Marshall Tito’s mausoleum in Belgrade.
Tito was a strong man & Yugoslavia prospered immensely.
Whilst there I observed a young family who cannot even have been born before Tito died in 1980.
They came to pay their respects to a man who presumably gave their parents a better life than could have ever hoped for without him?
Who will remember David Lammy, or Grant Shapps or Ed Davey in 40 years time?
It’s the difference between civil service & self service.
