Is Andy Burnham In Trouble – Is His Vote Splitting?
Politics is a complicated business. It is not as straightforward as explaining what you will do when in power, and then standing back to allow the voter to decide. It is far more complex and dirtier, and it is never fair.
The next mayoral election is on 2nd May and could be when Mayor Andy Burnham finds out if the cards are stacked against him through no fault of his own. I am not discussing his failure as the Police Crime Commissioner, or the complete waste of money on the cancelled Clean Air Zone. I am not even going to mention his gamble with our buses that may go bankrupt in a few years if he does not increase passenger numbers by 30%.
I am talking about the shifting political tectonic plates beneath his feet which he will sense but cannot stop.
Free Palestine is a modern war cry we hear every weekend in our major cities from people who have never visited the location – I have. Many Labour supporters are fully behind this movement for a variety of reasons such as hating Jews, being against capitalism, wanting a revolution, and even those who want a Muslim caliphate. The Muslim population overwhelmingly vote Labour, is this about to change?
No one is happy with Kier Starmer on this issue. Like many weak politicians, he has found himself sat on the fence over this issue, which pleases no one. His wife and children are Jewish as far as I can tell for they observe Friday evening prayers together as a family. This is not acceptable from a leader by the Jew-hating far-left and is evidence that Starmer is a secret Zionist in the pay of Israel.
This has led to Muslim councillors resigning from the party and an attempt to set up an Islamic political party. We are currently witnessing verbal abuse aimed at brown Muslim Labour candidates while out canvassing from brown Muslim Labour voters. Strange times indeed. This has now culminated in the Labour candidate for the Rochdale by-election being suspended from the party for making anti-Semitic comments to attract local voters.
To make matters worse for Labour, the Islamist-supporting political firebrand George Galloway has thrown his hat into the ring of the Rochdale by-election on 29th February. We are now waiting to see if the Muslim block vote has abandoned Labour over a foreign war. Galloway does not have to win to damage Labour nationally, only to show that an Islamist agenda can take a significant amount of votes.
Where does Mayor Andy Burnham stand on the Free Palestine issue? Does anyone know? Does he know? Or is he playing the Kier Starmer card of sitting on the fence and hoping no one notices?
Unfortunately, the Islamists will notice and will want to know as the mayoral election creeps closer. They may stand their own candidate. Galloway may use his Rochdale campaign as a slingshot into the mayoral race to damage Burnham as much as he can. Galloway takes no prisoners and has no love for the current Labour party.
A successful Islamist campaign for Mayor will peel Muslim voters off Burham. They will not win but the damage will have been done and the message sent: Appease us or else!
A few days ago, Kier Starmer hampered his party even more. He announced the cancellation of the £28 billion investment into the green agenda if elected as Prime Minister later this year. A complete U-turn on a flagship promise that his party loved. It seems that we cannot afford to stop the end of the world any longer.
The eco-lobby is not happy, including the ones within the Labour Party who must be looking at the Green Party as a potential new home. Voters tend to forget about broken promises over time, but the mayoral election is only 10 weeks away.
Will we see new demonstrations on the streets aimed at the Labour Party by groups such as Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil? If we do, how much damage will this do to the Labour brand on green issues?
Many left-leaning voters think that tackling climate change is very important for the UK. The question is do they think it is important enough to reject Labour? I would guess they may for they place a lot of value in virtue signalling.
How will a collapse in the Labour green vote affect Andy Burnham in Greater Manchester? He will be well aware that the Green Party came third in the last mayoral election. They must be thinking they can do better this time, especially if they select a strong candidate and go on the attack.
No one knows if the Islamists and green activists will ultimately deliver a blow against Mayor Andy Burnham. But if they do they may allow another candidate to sneak across the finish line. This will not be the Tories for their reputation is in the gutter and many of their voters will stay at home. It will not be the LibDems for they are a weak alternative to Labour. And the Greens are simply a protest vote with no real mass appeal.
I am the only candidate who can benefit from the potential collapse of Labour and the current collapse of Tories. Plus, as an independent candidate, I can attract the floating voter and disenfranchised voter.
For me to win, I need Burnham's vote to collapse. Is the next election that election?
