The 2021 census data was published last week. It hit the news headlines and then quickly disappeared before cries of racism could be heard.
The data simply told us what many people already knew to be true – immigration is wildly out of control and seems impossible to slow down, never mind end it. The three largest cities in the UK (London, Manchester and Birmingham) are so diverse that white-English is now an official ethnic minority.
I am a Mancunian, which means I am from Manchester. I have lived here all my life. I was born here, attended school here, bought my home here and run my business here. I even stood against Andy Burnham to be Mayor of Greater Manchester in 2021.
I have watched over my lifetime the city change. I remember as a child when the first Asian family moved into my neighbour. They are on their own no longer, for most of the homes are now occupied by Asians. We have mosques, Indian food shops and immigration services in the shops that once contained white-British businesses. I am not commenting if this is good or bad – it is just a fact.
This latest data tells us that a third of the residents in Manchester were born outside of the UK. One in three - this is incredible. This is not one in three people are descendants of immigrants (like me), but a third of the residents in this city were not even born in this country. Truly shocking.
The UK has become a hotel as opposed to a home. It is no surprise that newly arrived people treat our country as we would temporary accommodation. We do not treat hotels with care for we are not invested in the longevity of the establishment, we are only interested in the here and now. Imagine if our country collapsed overnight and we became Albania. The exodus from this island by the newly arrived would dwarf the Hebrew exit from the land of the Pharaohs. The UK is convenient and beneficial, it is not home.
Let me put to bed the myth that migrants come here to contribute to the UK - they do not. They come to secure a better life than they would in their home country. This was exactly the reason why my father came to the UK. He was not an Anglophile with a dream of improving Britain - he was selfish and self-centred just like us.
The Windrush generation did not arrive to help rebuild our country after WWII – this is a lie. They came as economic migrants because Caribbean islands were poor and unemployment was high. Their governments encouraged this migration and even offered loans to cover the travel costs. The British people and government did not invite them to come – this is a myth. They came to better their lives and they did.
What can we expect from our diversity going forward? We had a little taste of it with the religious riots this year in Leicester. Muslims and Hindus engaged in violent battles while the TV informed us that this city is a great example of multiculturalism. What horrendous incident triggered such violence? A cricket match between two foreign counties on a different continent.
This year I have witnessed public celebrations for the independence of Pakistan, Jamaica and even Albania. Politicians, media and organisations came together to celebrate the history of foreign countries. Ironic that no one wants to live in these countries, hence why their people live here.
Maybe they like a good party so will also celebrate British events? This is not true for if you looked at the queues to pay respect to our late queen, it was almost completely white people. The only time you saw a black or brown face was when the Press needed an interview and the correct needle was found in the haystack. Foreigners do not celebrate Britishness – why would they?
History shows us that violence follows in the footsteps of diversity. Ulster. Palestine. Cyprus. Yugoslavia. Rwanda. Cambodia. The list is endless.
English culture is superior to all others. This may sound racist but it happens to be true. All you have to do to prove this assertion is look at our history and our values today. It is that simple.
When we say British we really mean English, for it was the English who exported their culture to the rest of the UK, and then the world.
The most powerful and successful country in the world is America, a former colony of the British Empire. The Spanish and Portuguese secured the most valuable lands in the New World that contained gold and other resources. We had to settle for the bit they did not want. We took the wastelands of North America and created a utopia that now rules the modern world. We can also look at Canada, New Zealand and Australia if you think that the US was a bit of a fluke. No fluke – English culture.
Why have I suddenly turned into a white supremacist promoting empire and whiteness? I have not. I have discussed culture; English culture.
I do not blame immigrants for wanting to come to the best country in the world – it is only natural if your ancestors have not gifted you a better homeland. Yet, I feel we are failing these people just as their ancestors did.
We allow immigrants to settle in the UK and keep their culture as if this will not have a damaging effect. It will. It does. We may import the Third World but we do not have to preserve it - pruning encourages healthy growth.
England is not a hotel. It is not an international airport lounge. It is not a waiting room until decisions are made about where to live next. England is home to amazing people and culture.
We cannot allow others to destroy the very reason why they came here in the first place. This is madness. A lifeboat can only hold a certain number until it is as dangerous as the vessel being evacuated. Many rescue boats sink under the weight of the desperate.
Let me leave you with a question…….
‘If England becomes no more, where do the English go?’
